The surface moisture content of the wood is measured electronically using a portable moisture meter that has two needles (electrodes) that are stuck into the surface of the wood at previously defined points.
The presence of excessive moisture in wood elements (structural and non-structural) is one of the main causes of aesthetic and functional degradation of these elements.
Monitoring or controlling the moisture content enables us to avoid or correcting existing conditions on the site which may be conducive to the development of biotic agents (woodworm, termites, fungi, etc.) that accelerate wood degradation.
