Research & Development

NCREP’s investment in research and development (R&D) focuses on continually improving the technical solutions available for rehabilitating built heritage, as well as on increasing knowledge in the area of rehabilitation and seismic engineering.

To this end, NCREP has carried out internal R&D campaigns and participated in numerous initiatives in the area of existing structures in collaboration with various national and international research and educational institutions, such as the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP/UP), the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP/IPP), the Universidade de Aveiro (UA), the Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori di Pavia (IUSS Pavia, Italy), the Université de Mons and Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and the Global Earthquake Model Foundation (GEM).

As a result of these initiatives, NCREP has supported various research projects with its experience in the area of rehabilitating built stock and, as a member of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST), has participated in exploratory campaigns in a laboratory environment. It has also accepted students on end-of-course internships and summer internships, as well as providing guidance for master’s dissertations and doctoral theses in the area of structural rehabilitation and seismic engineering.

In addition, with the aim of disseminating the vast knowledge its research and development has yielded, NCREP has participated in several technical and scientific conferences, resulting in the publication of numerous articles at national and international levels.
