NCREP was hired to assess the compatibility of one of the slabs of the Adega Velha building, which is part of Quinta da Aveleda, with the new occupation of the building. This compatibility was assessed by carrying out a load test. This test aimed to impose a load similar to that foreseen for the new occupation, hoping in this way to make use of the slab and avoiding the need to implement any structural reinforcement measures.

Prior to the load test, an inspection and diagnosis of the building was carried out, with the aim of characterizing the existing structure, assessing its state of conservation and estimating its load capacity for the definition of the test parameters.

The load was gradually imposed on the slab using cement bags, while the deformation was measured at key points using a continuous acquisition system. During this work, temporary passive shoring was implemented on the underside of the slab.
