Rua Monte dos Judeus Building

Porto

NCREP worked in close collaboration with the architectural team Lupini Machado, in charge of the design of the building, to develop a Structural Inspection and Diagnosis campaign and a Stability Project for a multi-family dwelling located in Rua do Monte dos Judeus in Porto.

The building had a precarious conservation status, and therefore only the surrounding masonry walls were maintained, once suitably consolidated and strengthened in order to acquire the necessary resistant capacity to withstand the new requests. The floors, footbridges and exterior balconies and the roof of the main building were designed and realised in glued laminated timber structure. This material was chosen due to the importance of minimising the applied loads and limiting the intrusion to the existing structural walls, as well as ensuring compatibility with the existing materials. The new construction in the garden was realised with a new metal structure.
