Sintra National Palace Chapel

Sintra

NCREP evaluated the state of conservation and safety of the chapel of Sintra National Palace and carried out the subsequent structural strengthening project on the roof and tribune. The inspection and diagnostic work led to the conclusion that the structural elements displayed significant problems. Based on these results, a strengthening project was carried out with the aim of respecting the pre-existing elements of the building and mitigating existing structural damage. This project involved safeguarding heritage of great importance and cultural value; utmost consideration for the extant structures was demonstrated by the definition of limited and compatible structural solutions that minimised the impact on existing building elements.
