Bhutanese traditional constructions
NCREP was involved in a project to Improve Seismic Risk Resistance when it was hired to study 18 traditional rammed earth buildings in the villages of Pathari and Tana in the Punakha district of Bhutan. The work included conducting an architectural and structural survey of the buildings, as well as interviewing the artisans in order to collect existing experience and knowledge. These data allowed us to perform simple vulnerability analyses and to suggest structural measures to improve the seismic behaviour of the Bhutanese structures.
