Alexandre Costa has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP), a master’s in Seismic Engineering from the European School for Advanced Studies in Reduction of Seismic Risk (ROSE School, Pavia, Italy) and a PhD in Civil Engineering from FEUP.
He has been working in the area of heritage rehabilitation since 2005, being a founding partner of NCREP. In the time since then, he has been a part of numerous projects and studies concerning the inspection, diagnostics, structural analysis and design of rehabilitation and structural strengthening solutions for built stock.
He is the author of more than 100 publications in the area of seismic engineering and structural rehabilitation in conference and seminar proceedings, as well as in leading international journals. He has participated in several national and international research projects and has helped to organise scientific meetings, with particular emphasis on masonry structures and monitoring.
He has been visiting adjunct lecturer at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) since 2010.
