In the context of a rehabilitation work in progress at the roofs of the São Bento Church, in Arcos de Valdevez, a detachment with important displacement out of plan was detected on the exterior masonry wall. Is following these damages that NCREP was requested to assess the causes and determine the necessary intervention measures to recovery this devote space.
After studying the various structural elements, in particular the exterior masonry walls, vaults, arches and ornamental elements of stone, it is concluded that the degradation observed in the timber structures, as well as some of the damage on the walls of masonry, were caused from the high entry of water by the roof inside the Church.
Following the conclusions of the Inspection and Diagnosis Report, NCREP installed cracks measurer in order to determine if the deformation identified on the walls of the Church were stabilized, as well as to verify the effectiveness of intervention measures advocated.
